Credit union business plan
I was in a discussion with other credit union ceos about sharing our business plans with our members. It seems reasonable that we would share our business plan with the member/owners of the cooperative. If you have an account with us – you are a member/ i (barb the ceo) have decided to share what the cal poly federal credit union has done over the last year and our plans for the next year or two. Access to mobile home banking had a number of improvements – including the ability to transfer funds to your other credit union accounts and use bill pay right on your received a grant (free money) from our federal regulator this summer to have an android app developed (ios is next). We thank you for refinancing your loans with loan making part of our business has improved over the last year with loan balances increasing more than one percent each month.

This is fantastic news for us as the interest we earn on loans pays our bills – like rent and salaries and most importantly , back to new services – we started accepting square to fund account openings when new members only have a bank debit or credit card with them (you don’t need cash or a check for the $25 opening balance — we can swipe your card). There is no monthly service fee, no minimum balance, and no direct deposit back to our the last year, we have also given cold hard cash to many organizations on campus including matt’s run, the unity luncheon as well as various departments and addition, last fall we donated 25 cents for each debit or credit card purchase members made on international credit union day — to the children’s miracle network –which supports our local children’s hospitals. Don’t know how much you know about emv (europay, mastercard, visa) chip cards – but, they are more secure than the magnetic strip debit and credit cards. Unfortunately, most of the fraud occurring lately has come after the purchase is made and someone hacks into the retailer and steals card data – the chipped cards would not stop that will be migrating our debit and credit cards to the new emv (chip cards) technology over the next couple of years. Do you have any ideas for helping us convince members to bring us more business (refinance your existing loans) so we can increase our pool of income?

I would love to hear from planning session is coming up and a new business plan is awaiting input – what can we do for you? Bean, cpfcu president/ly, i was in a discussion with other credit union ceos about sharing our business plans with our members. Reasons why credit unions are better for your mentor was my dad, who owned a small business in milwaukie, oregon. He taught me the importance of businesses being involved in their community and the joy of making a difference in people’s lives. Today i’m ceo of oregon’s second largest state-chartered credit union, and i love going to work every day, making a difference in the lives of our members, employees and the communities we unions have been so focused on serving communities and providing excellent financial services to members that we have failed to tell our story—who we are and what makes us different.
Credit unions can make special arrangements when times get credit unions were started by pioneer member-owners who began the business in the garage of someone’s home and pooled their funds in a shoebox. The focus was always clear: providing access to credit for people who could not seem to get it at the local bank. Fast forward and today you find thousands of credit unions all over the country and thousands of stories annually about members who need help—and get it—from their credit in this tough economy, credit unions understand that “bad things happen to good members. In the last three years, credit unions have continued to loan and work diligently to help members who have lost their jobs to keep their autos and stay in their homes. Over a million residents in oregon alone belong to a locally owned credit union, and that number is growing every day.
Credit unions give unions are a positive influence on all financial services in the communities where they do business. Here in oregon, credit unions hold a small percent of market share, but even so, we effectively help to control costs and maintain the rate environment for everyone. Research shows that when credit unions are in a market, all loan and deposit rates are positively 2012 oregon credit unions put more than $110 million back into the pockets of members as a result of lower loan rates, free checking, higher rates on savings and other benefits. That’s real money our members didn’t spend to get access to vital services like credit and a safe place to keep savings. Given the cost of groceries and gas these days, that’s a great reason to be a credit union member.
Unions have a well-deserved reputation for superior service and being the kinder, gentler financial institutions. For example, oregon community credit union is the single largest corporate scholarship sponsor at the university of oregon. Along with supporting other scholarship programs in 2012, oregon community also donated over half a million dollars, and our employees volunteered over 2,000 hours to help our members have the opportunity to live in a vibrant and prospering community by supporting many simple truth is that millions of americans have figured out that being a member-owner of a credit union is their first choice when it comes to financial services.
